Styled after the 1953 MG TF Midget, the TF 1700 was the product of Bradford-based Naylor Cars and cleverly blurred the line between original and replica.
The Naylor was largely underpinned by Austin Rover engineering, including the chassis, 1700cc engine and four-speed manual gearbox that drove the rear wheels. Suspension was provided by double wishbones up front and a fourlink live rear axle. The cabin was neat and comfortable for the most part, although storage was limited to the glovebox and a shelf behind the seats and there were no door locks. Hood operation was relatively straightforward.
This lovely car is finished in true heritage colours and also benefits from chrome wire spoke wheels, chrome rear luggage rack and also a stainless steel exhaust. It has a lot of history and in 2020 underwent a replacement gearbox, new clutch master and slave cylinder, re-cored radiator and new water pump and exhaust manifold bolts and also an extensive brake renovation including new fron calipers. In 2023 the carburettor. was rebuild and re-calibtated to improve emssions, performance and economy. This car has been dried stored and is presented in superb condition.
